Can You See Me?

Can You See Me? –Inspired by imagining what Celine Dion would have wanted to say to her Manager as she became a young woman and realized she was in love with him. I imagine there are many people who developed feelings for mentors, coaches, bosses, etc and will be able to relate to saying “hey, look at me, I’ve grown up!”

This song needs an instrumentalist to bring it to life. please contact me if interested. (See home page for link)

CAN YOU SEE ME

Can you see me?

Can you see me?

Can you see me?

Or am I a kaleidoscope?

Made of images, changing over time,

Shapes and colors tumbling,

Jostling in your mind

Do you see me as I am?

Or as a doll-faced pedigree?

Do you see me as I am?

Can you push past all the trash?

And see me as I am?

Or am I lost in your dreams?

Pushed and poked into a box,

Until your reality seems…

To see me,

Not as I am,

But as you wish,

Bright and hopeful,

Waiting for first kiss

Don’t you see, I’m in a place I don’t relish?

Somewhere I’m lost in your mind

Though your intentions weren’t unkind,

You’ve taken me to a place that’s cruel,

Still only seeing me,

As a girl in school

Can you see me?

Can you see me?

Can you see me?

Or am I just a stupid dope?

Made of images distorted through time,

Shapes and colors tumbling,

Jostled in your mind

Do you see me as I am?

Or still as a child at your knee?

Do you see me as I am?

Can you push through all our past?

And see me as I am?

Or am I still being unseen?

Shoved and locked into a box,

Your reality, kind of mean…

To see me,

Not as I am,

But as you wish,

Bright and hopeful,

Waiting for first kiss

Don’t keep me on the shelf like a bowl …with fish

Please remember to be kind

I need you to adjust your mind,

Take me out of the wading pool,

Stop only seeing me,

As a childish fool

Can you see me?

Can you see me?

Can you see me?

I’m waiting… for your kiss
